Treasures of Aztec Slot Game Overview

How to Play Treasures of Aztec

Treasures of Aztec uses a six-reel, five-row layout with an additional symbol position above reels two through five. Its variable grid offers between 2,025 and 32,400 ways to win, depending on the symbols appearing during each spin.

Unlike traditional casino slots with fixed paylines, Treasures of Aztec uses a ways-to-win system. Winning combinations form when three or more matching symbols appear on consecutive reels from left to right, regardless of their exact row positions.

The game features Aztec-inspired symbols, including golden masks, colorful stone carvings, and playing-card icons. Some symbols occupy multiple spaces on the reels, changing the number of available winning combinations.

However, larger symbols are treated as individual symbols when calculating payouts rather than being counted separately for every position they cover.

Once a winning combination forms, the matching symbols disappear and new symbols fall into place through the cascading reels mechanic. If another winning combination appears, the process continues without requiring an additional wager.

These cascading sequences are particularly important because each successful cascade increases the game's win multiplier, potentially increasing the value of subsequent payouts.

Wilds-on-the-Way Feature and Symbol Transformations

Wilds-on-the-Way is one of the defining mechanics in the Treasures of Aztec slot.

During regular spins and free spins, certain symbols on reels two through five can appear with silver frames. These symbols may occupy between two and four positions on the reels.

When a silver-framed symbol participates in a winning combination, it transforms into another randomly selected regular symbol with a gold frame following the cascade.

If the gold-framed symbol subsequently contributes to another winning combination, it transforms into a Wild symbol during the next cascade.

The transformation process follows three stages:

1. Silver-Framed Symbol: A qualifying winning symbol with a silver border transforms into a randomly selected gold-framed symbol.

2. Gold-Framed Symbol: If this symbol contributes to another win, it transforms into a Wild.

3. Wild Symbol: The resulting Wild can substitute for regular paying symbols, helping create additional winning combinations.

Wild symbols can appear on reels two through five and substitute for all regular paying symbols, but not Scatters.

Because these transformations occur during cascading sequences, Wilds-on-the-Way can help extend a series of wins after the original paying symbols have disappeared.

The combination of transforming symbols and progressive multipliers gives Treasures of Aztec its distinctive gameplay.

Cascading Reels and Increasing Win Multipliers

Treasures of Aztec features a progressive win multiplier that increases when consecutive cascading combinations produce additional wins.

At the beginning of each regular spin, the multiplier starts at 1x.

When a winning combination forms, the game calculates and awards the payout before removing the winning symbols. New symbols then cascade into the empty spaces, and the multiplier increases by 1x for the next round.

For example, a sequence can progress as follows:

The multiplier continues increasing for as long as additional winning cascades occur within the same spin.

There is no fixed upper limit on the multiplier in the published game rules, although the sequence ends when no additional winning combination forms.

At the beginning of the next regular spin, the multiplier resets to 1x.

During free spins, however, the multiplier behaves differently. It starts at 2x, increases by 2x after each winning cascade, and continues accumulating throughout the bonus feature.

This difference makes the free spins bonus particularly important to the game's potential for larger payouts.

Treasures of Aztec Free Spins Bonus

The Treasures of Aztec free spins feature activates when four or more Scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels.

Landing four Scatter symbols awards 10 free spins, while each additional Scatter provides two extra spins.

During free spins, players continue using the same cascading reels and Wilds-on-the-Way mechanics found in the base game.

However, the bonus introduces a stronger multiplier system.

Increasing Free Spins Multipliers

The multiplier begins at 2x rather than the regular game's 1x.

After each successful winning cascade, the multiplier increases by 2x instead of 1x.

For example, a sequence of wins can increase the multiplier from 2x to 4x, 6x, 8x, and higher.

Unlike the base game, the multiplier does not reset between individual free spins. Instead, it continues accumulating throughout the bonus round, allowing later winning combinations to benefit from a higher multiplier.

Retriggering Free Spins

Additional free spins can be awarded when another qualifying Scatter combination appears during the bonus.

Landing four or more Scatters can retrigger the feature, extending the number of available free spins and providing further opportunities for the multiplier to increase.

There is no fixed upper limit on the progressive multiplier in the published rules, although reaching particularly high values depends on the results of successive random spins and cascades.

Treasures of Aztec Feature Buy

Treasures of Aztec includes an optional Feature Buy mechanic in supported casino configurations.

The Feature Buy allows eligible players to purchase direct access to the free spins bonus instead of waiting for four Scatter symbols during ordinary gameplay.

When available, the purchase price is displayed in the game's Feature Buy menu and depends on the current stake and configuration.

After purchasing the feature, the game activates the free spins bonus with its enhanced multiplier mechanics.

Bonus purchases do not guarantee a profitable result, and the amount paid to enter the feature can exceed the winnings produced.

Feature Buy availability may also vary depending on local restrictions and casino settings.

Treasures of Aztec RTP, Volatility and Maximum Win

Treasures of Aztec has a published Return to Player (RTP) of 96.71%, corresponding to a theoretical house edge of 3.29%.

This means that, across a very large number of spins, the game is mathematically designed to return an average of 96.71% of the total amount wagered.

RTP represents a long-term theoretical expectation rather than a guarantee of winnings during an individual gambling session.

PG Soft classifies Treasures of Aztec as a medium-volatility slot. This means the distribution of winning outcomes is designed to balance smaller and larger payouts, although results can still vary considerably during individual sessions.

The game's overall published hit frequency is 29.07%, representing the theoretical percentage of rounds that produce a winning outcome. A winning round does not necessarily return more than the original wager.

PG Soft advertises a theoretical maximum win of 100,000x the stake. Its official documentation separately reports a maximum observed payout of 9,071x during a simulation of one billion spins.

These figures represent different measures: the advertised theoretical maximum is not the same as the highest result observed during testing.

The game's combination of medium volatility, progressive multipliers, cascading reels, and Wild transformations provides much of its potential for larger payouts.

Players should check the RTP configuration displayed within the game before placing real-money bets.
