Wanted Dead or a Wild

The Wanted Dead or a Wild demo is the cheapest way to find out whether this slot suits you, because the game is unforgiving and the demo costs nothing. Hacksaw Gaming built it as a high reward outlaw slot of shootouts and duels, with 5 reels, 5 rows and 15 paylines. It sits in the wider online slots lobby at Shuffle.

The name trips people up. It is Wanted Dead or a Wild, often typed as Wanted Dead or Wild, and it is not the same game as NetEnt's Dead or Alive, which is an older Western slot with its own page here. The headline figures on this one are a 96.38% RTP and a 12,500x maximum win, delivered through three bonus rounds and the VS duel symbols that drive them. This page covers the math, the paytable and the features, so you know what you are buying before you spin.

Play Wanted Dead or a Wild Free in Demo Mode

The Wanted Dead or a Wild slot demo runs at Shuffle with no deposit, on the same reels, the same 96.38% RTP and the same high volatility as real play. Only the balance changes: it is play money, cannot be withdrawn and converts to nothing. Free play is the honest way in, and it is one click from the game screen.

Demo matters more here than on a gentler slot. This game can run two hundred spins without a bonus and then pay everything back in ten seconds, and reading that is not the same as watching it happen to a balance. A free session shows how rarely the Duel symbols land and how flat the base game feels between them.

What a demo will not do is predict a real session. Every spin resolves independently, so a free run that triggered Dead Man's Hand twice says nothing about the next hundred spins. A Wanted Dead or a Wild demo with bonus buy is worth a few rounds too: it shows what you receive for the price.

Wanted Dead or a Wild RTP, Volatility and Specs

The RTP is 96.38%, comfortably above the average for online slots. RTP is the share of total wagers a game returns across millions of spins, so it describes long run behavior rather than an evening. The rate is fixed and does not move with your stake or timing.

This slot is firmly in the high volatility category, and that is what should shape your stake. Wins are infrequent and the money is concentrated in the bonus rounds, so a bankroll that funds only fifty spins will very likely see nothing at all.

Maximum Win

The ceiling is 12,500x your stake, among the higher risk, higher reward figures on the market. Reaching it means stacking VS multipliers across the grid inside a bonus round. It is a real cap, and almost no session goes near it.

How to Play Wanted Dead or a Wild

• Set your bet. Use the arrows beside the spin button to adjust your total stake, from 0.20 up to 100 per spin.

• Open the settings. The menu icon left of the control panel holds sound and display preferences.

• Spin. Press the spin button or the space bar to play at your selected stake.

• Read the wilds. The wild substitutes for all regular symbols except the bonus and VS symbols.

• Know the win rule. When several wins land together, only the highest paying win per payline is awarded.

• Consider the bonus buy. The buy button purchases direct access to one of the features.

Set a loss limit before the first spin rather than after a bad run, and give autoplay a spin count and a stop condition.

Symbols and Paytable

The reels mix playing cards with thematic icons: gun barrels, liquor bottles and outlaws. Each pays on matching icons across the 15 fixed paylines, at the bet multiplier values below.

Gun Barrel and Money Bag pay the most, followed by Whiskey Bottle, Cowboy and Skull. The cards land constantly and pay almost nothing, which is the arithmetic behind the volatility: the base game only slows the decline while you wait for a feature.

Bonus Features and Free Spins

There are three bonus rounds, each with its own pacing and payout shape. All three trigger from the base game, and each is also available through the bonus buy menu.

Duel at Dawn

Three or more Duel symbols award 10 free spins. VS symbols appear far more often during the round, each revealing two dueling outlaws with random multipliers. The winner's multiplier expands across the full reel and turns it wild. Stack several and the screen fills with wilds, which is where the feature's largest results come from.

Dead Man's Hand

Three or more Dead symbols trigger a two phase feature. In collection mode you spin to collect wilds and multipliers, and every collected symbol resets your spin count to three, continuing until three spins pass with nothing collected. The showdown then gives three final spins, each placing random wilds on the reels, with every win boosted by the accumulated multiplier. A long collection phase is what makes this round pay.

The Great Train Robbery

Three or more Great Train Robbery symbols award 10 free spins in which every wild that lands becomes sticky and stays locked for the whole round. It is the slowest of the three and the most cumulative, building as the wilds pile up rather than resolving in one burst.

VS Symbols Explained

VS symbols work in the base game as well as the bonus rounds, and they define the slot. One lands, expands to cover the reel, two outlaws appear with random multipliers, the winner's multiplier applies and the reel turns wild. With more than one, the multipliers are first added together and then multiplied. If one lands on every reel the entire grid turns wild, which is rare and enormously rewarding.

Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

If you like gritty Westerns, this one delivers the atmosphere in full. The visuals are intentionally rough, dominated by dusty reds, burnt oranges and cracked yellows, and every element from the symbols to the transitions reinforces the setting. The soundtrack was written in the register of a classic spaghetti Western score, with slow building tension that breaks open during a gunfight, and when the reels drop into bonus mode the animations escalate into a stylish shootout.

Bankroll and Session Tips

High volatility is not a style note, it is a budgeting instruction.

• Stake small enough to survive a few hundred spins, since the money lives in the bonus rounds.

• Play the base game before using the bonus buy, so you know what you are paying to skip.

• Never raise a stake to recover a loss. It changes nothing about the odds.

• Set a session budget before the first spin and treat it as already spent.

The RTP is fixed, so there is no strategy beyond bankroll management. Every spin is independent and chance based, and a two hundred spin drought is ordinary behavior here rather than a sign that a bonus is owed.

What Works and What Does Not

Works: a 96.38% RTP above the average, three genuinely distinct bonus rounds, a VS mechanic that can turn one spin into a full wild grid, and presentation that still holds up.

Does not: the base game is brutally flat, the 12,500x ceiling needs a near perfect bonus round, and the bonus buy is priced so the house edge survives it. If you want frequent small wins, this is the wrong slot entirely.

Verdict

Wanted Dead or a Wild earned its reputation and has kept it. The math is above average, the three features are properly differentiated, and the VS duel is one of the better ideas in modern slot design because it builds a visible, escalating moment rather than printing a number. It suits a player who accepts long flat stretches for the chance of an outsized round, and it punishes a small bankroll at a high stake harder than most.

About Hacksaw Gaming

Hacksaw Gaming built its reputation on compact, mechanically sharp slots with unmistakable art direction, and this is the title most players name first. The studio returned to the duel idea in Bullets and Bounty and Gladiator Legends, and the mechanic has become a house signature. The full catalog is collected on the Hacksaw Gaming provider page.

Playing on Mobile

Wanted Dead or a Wild is fully optimized for mobile play in the browser, on phones and tablets, with no app to install. Controls stay responsive, the bonus animations keep their detail on a small screen, and it loads on slower connections.

Promotions on Wanted Dead or a Wild

Slot play carries the highest contribution rate toward bonus wagering requirements, so this is an efficient title to clear one on, though the volatility makes the clearing bumpy. Spins count toward the weekly race and the VIP program, and rakeback applies at the upper tiers. Table and live dealer games contribute far less. Terms apply.

Free spin drops and challenges attach to named titles from time to time. As of September 2026 the promotional calendar refreshes weekly, so check the promotions page before a session. Read the wagering requirement and the maximum bet while wagering together: exceeding the stake cap is the most common way players void a bonus.

Play at this crypto casino is funded straight from your Shuffle wallet in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Solana, Litecoin or SHFL. There is no conversion step and no separate deposit, and the stake range appears in the interface before you spin. Withdrawals settle on chain rather than waiting on banking hours.

Responsible Gambling

You must be 18 or older, or the legal age in your jurisdiction, to play. This slot is built on long droughts broken by rare, dramatic rounds, and that is precisely the pattern that makes chasing feel reasonable at the time. It is not. The next spin is independent of every spin before it.

Loss and wager limits, session reminders and self exclusion sit in your account settings and take effect immediately. No slot is due and no amount of play changes the house edge. If you find yourself raising stakes to recover a loss, close the session. Support is available 24/7 through live chat.

Licensing and Fair Play

Shuffle operates under a Curaçao Gaming Control Board license (OGL/2024/1337/0628). The game runs on Hacksaw Gaming's own certified random number generator, and Shuffle does not modify the RTP, volatility or paytable of any supplied title.

The RTP of Wanted Dead or a Wild is 96.38%. The rate is fixed and does not vary with stake or timing, and it describes a long run average rather than your session.
