Dead or Alive 2

The Dead or Alive 2 slot is NetEnt's sequel to one of the most played high volatility games ever released, built on 5 reels and 9 paylines with a 96.8% RTP and a ceiling of 100,000x your stake. It is a reel slot rather than a live table, and it sits in the online slots lobby at Shuffle.

One point of confusion is worth clearing up first. The game's address on this site begins with the Evolution prefix because Evolution acquired NetEnt in 2020 and now lists its titles under the group. This remains a NetEnt slot with NetEnt maths, and nothing about it is a live dealer product.

Released in 2019, it took the original's outlaw theme and replaced the single bonus with three distinct free spins modes that you choose between. Below are the specifications, those three modes and how to stake a game with this much variance.

Play Dead or Alive 2 Free in Demo Mode

The Dead or Alive 2 slot demo runs at Shuffle with no deposit required. Demo uses the same reel set, the same 9 paylines, the same 96.8% RTP and the same high volatility as the real money game. The one difference is the balance, which is play money: it cannot be withdrawn and it converts to nothing when you finish.

Demo matters more here than on an average slot. The three free spins modes have very different risk profiles, and choosing between them is the most important decision the game asks of you. Running the Dead or Alive 2 demo lets you trigger each mode and form a view before any of it costs money. Reading a description of the High Noon mode is not the same as watching a round of it end in three spins.

What demo cannot do is forecast a paid session. Every spin resolves independently of the one before it, so a free run that produced a strong bonus twice over carries no information about what comes next. You can move between free play and real stakes from the game screen without reloading, and the sensible sequence is to test the modes first and choose your stake afterwards.

Dead or Alive 2 RTP, Volatility and Specs

The RTP is 96.8%, which is high for a slot with a six figure win ceiling and one reason the game held its audience for as long as it has. RTP describes the share of all wagers returned across millions of spins. It is a long run property of the maths rather than a prediction: an evening can land far above or far below it without contradicting the figure.

Feature	Detail
Provider	NetEnt, part of the Evolution group
Release	2019
Reels	5
Paylines	9
RTP	96.8%
Volatility	High
Max win	100,000x stake
Mobile	Browser based, no app

Nine paylines is a small number by modern standards, and that is deliberate. Fewer lines concentrate the maths: base game hits are infrequent and the free spins carry the game. This is high volatility in the strict sense rather than as a marketing label, and long stretches without a meaningful return are simply how it behaves.

Maximum Win

The cap is 100,000x your stake, reached through the most aggressive of the free spins modes, where a run of sticky wilds on the right lines produces a result far beyond anything the base game offers. That outcome is extraordinarily rare, and describing it as a target would be dishonest. Treat it as the shape of the game's upside and nothing more.

How to Play Dead or Alive 2

The base game is deliberately plain. You set a stake, spin, and wins pay across 9 lines from the leftmost reel. Wilds substitute for regular symbols and scatters open the bonus. All the depth is in what happens after the trigger.

Set Your Stake and Spin Settings

Choose a bet from the stake selector before your first spin. Because the base game is quiet by design, your stake determines how long you can realistically wait for a feature, so pick a level you can repeat many times rather than one that feels exciting. If you use autoplay, set the spin count and a loss limit at the same time.

Symbols and Paytable

The paytable is themed around outlaws and their hardware: playing card ranks at the bottom, then the revolvers, hats and boots, with the wanted poster wild and the scatter at the top. The wild decides the game, because it turns sticky during the free spins and stays where it lands. Learn the wild and the scatter count that triggers the bonus and you can play.

Bonus Features and Free Spins

Landing the scatter trigger takes you to a selection screen rather than straight into a round, and that is what separates the sequel from the original. You choose one of three free spins modes, each with its own balance of risk and reward. The Dead or Alive 2 slot free spins are the whole game, so the choice is worth understanding before it first appears on screen.

Old Saloon. The most forgiving of the three. Wilds become sticky and a multiplier builds as more of them land, producing the steadiest outcomes and the smallest ceiling.
Train Heist. The middle option. Wilds land and accumulate, with additional spins awarded as they do, so a round can extend well past its starting length when the reels cooperate.
High Noon Saloon. The extreme option, and the one the 100,000x ceiling belongs to. Sticky wilds carry heavy multipliers and the round is short unless new wilds keep arriving. Most attempts end quickly; the ones that do not produce the largest results in the game.

There is no correct choice in a mathematical sense, only one that matches your bankroll and your tolerance. A player with a small balance who picks High Noon repeatedly will usually watch it end in a handful of spins. A player who wants to see the feature actually run is better served by the Old Saloon.

Bankroll and Session Tips

Nine paylines and a six figure ceiling add up to a game that punishes casual staking.

Stake low relative to your balance. The base game is a waiting room and you need to afford the wait.
Try all three free spins modes in demo before deciding which you will pick with real money.
Do not switch modes mid session to chase a result. None of them is due and none improves after a bad round.
Never raise your stake to recover a loss.
Set a session budget before the first spin and treat it as already spent.

No staking system, mode choice or session timing changes the odds. Every spin is independent and chance based, so a hundred spins without a trigger is ordinary behaviour for this game rather than evidence that a trigger is close.

What Works and What Does Not

Works: a 96.8% RTP that is genuinely high for the category, three feature modes that give the player a real decision, sticky wilds that make a round tense to watch, and a ceiling among the largest in the studio's catalogue.

Does not: the base game is thin and can run cold for a very long time, nine paylines mean hits are rare, the High Noon mode ends in a few spins far more often than it delivers, and the presentation now shows its age against newer releases.

Verdict

Dead or Alive 2 has aged better than most slots of its generation because the maths was right in the first place. The RTP is high, the ceiling is real, and the three mode structure gave the sequel a genuine reason to exist. It suits a patient player with a bankroll sized for a long wait and a taste for a feature that can end in seconds. It does not suit anyone who wants a busy base game or regular small returns, and a small balance staked high here will not last.

About NetEnt and Evolution

Evolution Gaming acquired NetEnt in 2020, which is why this slot appears under the group's name in Shuffle's lobby. Evolution is best known for live dealer content, but the NetEnt catalogue it now owns is a slot library with a long record, and this is one of its most durable titles. The group will continue to maintain and distribute those games alongside its live output.

Playing on Mobile

Dead or Alive 2 slot online runs in the browser on phones and tablets, in portrait or landscape, with no app to install. Shuffle's mobile layout mirrors the desktop one, with full screen reels and single touch controls, and the free spins selection screen stays readable on a small display.

Promotions on Dead or Alive 2

Slot play carries the highest contribution rate toward bonus wagering requirements, which makes this an efficient title for clearing one. Spins count toward the weekly race and toward VIP progression, and rakeback applies at the upper tiers. Table and live dealer games contribute far less, so a bonus worked through on slots clears faster than the same bonus at a live table.

Free spin drops and title specific challenges attach to named games from time to time. As of September 2026 the promotional calendar refreshes weekly, so it is worth checking before a session whether this title carries an offer. Read the wagering requirement and the maximum bet allowed while wagering together: exceeding the stake cap during a bonus is the most common way a player voids one without noticing.

Playing Dead or Alive 2 with Crypto

Real money play is funded from your Shuffle wallet in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Solana, Litecoin or SHFL. There is no conversion step at the game and no separate deposit once your balance is loaded. Stakes appear in the interface before you spin, and withdrawals settle on chain rather than waiting on banking hours. Anyone comparing Dead or Alive 2 online casinos will find the game identical wherever it runs, because NetEnt supplies the same certified build to every operator.

Similar Games at Shuffle

If the outlaw theme or the high variance structure is what brought you here, three neighbours are worth opening.

Book of Ra Deluxe is the other classic on this list, a 10 payline expanding symbol slot that rewards patience the same way.
The Le Bandit slot keeps the outlaw setting and brings it up to date with a much busier feature set.
The Big Bamboo slot is a lighter high volatility option from Push Gaming when the Wild West theme wears thin.

Responsible Gambling

You must be 18 or older, or the legal age in your jurisdiction, to play. This is a high volatility slot, so long stretches without a return are part of its normal behaviour, and that is exactly the condition under which chasing a loss begins. Set your budget before the first spin and treat it as spent.

Deposit limits, loss and wager limits, session reminders and self exclusion are available in your account settings and take effect immediately. No slot is ever due, no free spins mode is owed to you, and no amount of play changes the house edge. If you notice yourself raising stakes to win money back, close the session. Support is available 24/7 through live chat.

Licensing and Fair Play

Shuffle operates under a Curaçao Gaming Control Board license (OGL/2024/1337/0628). Dead or Alive 2 runs on NetEnt's own certified random number generator, and Shuffle does not modify the RTP, volatility or paytable of any supplied title.

Dead or Alive 2 FAQ

Can I play the Dead or Alive 2 slot for free at Shuffle?

Yes. Demo mode runs the full game, including all three free spins modes, on a play balance with no deposit. Demo winnings are not real and cannot be withdrawn.

What is the RTP of Dead or Alive 2?

96.8%. That is an average across millions of spins, not a prediction for your session.

What is the maximum win?

100,000x your stake, reached through the High Noon Saloon free spins mode. It is a mathematical extreme rather than a realistic outcome.

Is Dead or Alive 2 a live casino game?

No. It is a NetEnt slot with 5 reels and 9 paylines. It appears under the Evolution name only because Evolution owns NetEnt.

How do I trigger the Dead or Alive 2 slot free spins?

Land the scatter trigger in the base game, then choose one of the three modes on the selection screen that follows.

Which free spins mode is best?

None is mathematically correct. The Old Saloon is the steadiest, Train Heist sits in the middle, and High Noon Saloon carries the largest ceiling and ends soonest.
